This is a ritual for healing, both physical and mental, and not reserved for those dying as many previously though due to the title once used of Last Rites.  The illness however should be of a serious nature. For less serious circumstances, a simple blessing is quite adequate.  If unsure which is appropriate, just ask.

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is available, by appointment.  Twice a year the Sacrament is also available at mass during the Lenten and Advent Seasons.
